The Ministry of Ayush has recently launched the AyushSuraksha Portal, a major step towards ensuring consumer safety in the field of traditional medicine. This new initiative is aimed at promoting transparency, accountability, and public participation in protecting the integrity of the Ayush systems (like Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani, and Homeopathy). The portal is especially focused on tackling misleading advertisements and making sure that only safe and authentic products reach the public.
What Does the AyushSuraksha Portal Do?
The portal serves as a central hub to monitor two key areas:
- Misleading advertisements related to Ayush products
- Adverse drug reactions (ADRs) reported by users or professionals
It brings together data from different regulatory bodies, such as State Licensing Authorities and national pharmacovigilance centres, allowing for real-time tracking and analysis of complaints. Most importantly, common citizens can also directly report misleading ads or side effects through this user-friendly platform.

Why Was It Created?
The portal was developed in response to a Supreme Court directive issued in July 2024, which stressed the need for a proper system to monitor deceptive advertisements and drug reactions. The Ministry of Ayush not only complied with the order but also completed the work ahead of the deadline—showing a strong commitment to public safety. Technical support for the portal came from the Central Council for Research in Siddha (CCRS), ensuring it meets all national standards for pharmacovigilance.
Who All Are Involved?
This portal is a joint effort involving multiple key authorities, including:
- The Ayush wing of CDSCO (Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation)
- The Ministry of Information & Broadcasting (MoI&B)
- Various state and national-level regulatory agencies
Thanks to this integration, reports made by citizens or healthcare professionals can be swiftly acted upon. The system even supports inter-state coordination and provides updates on the status of complaints, creating a seamless process from reporting to resolution.
Training Before the Launch
Before launching the portal, a training session was conducted in April 2025 for nodal officers from different departments. This was done to make sure everyone was well-prepared to handle the system effectively. Officers were trained in how to report issues and respond quickly, ensuring the portal would function smoothly from day one.
Why This Matters
The launch of the AyushSuraksha Portal marks a milestone in good governance within the Ayush sector. It strengthens the foundation of evidence-based traditional medicine and puts citizen safety at the centre. With this portal, the public now has a transparent and reliable way to raise concerns, while also gaining insight into how those concerns are addressed.
Overall, this initiative is a significant move towards building trust in India’s rich heritage of traditional medicine, while ensuring that safety and quality are never compromised.
