SSC (Staff Selection Commission) Overview

Major SSC Exams and Their Details

1. SSC CGL (Combined Graduate Level)

  • Eligibility: Graduation in any discipline from a recognized university.
  • Purpose: Recruitment for Group B and C posts such as Assistant Section Officer, Inspector, Accountant, Auditor, etc.
  • Exam Pattern:
    • Tier 1: Objective MCQ (General Awareness, Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, English)
    • Tier 2: Subject-specific papers (Quantitative, English, Statistics, General Studies)

2. SSC CHSL (Combined Higher Secondary Level)

  • Eligibility: 12th pass from a recognized board.
  • Purpose: Recruitment for posts like LDC (Lower Division Clerk), DEO (Data Entry Operator), and Postal Assistant.
  • Exam Pattern:
    • Tier 1: Objective MCQ
    • Tier 2: Descriptive Paper
    • Tier 3: Skill/Typing Test

3. SSC MTS (Multi-Tasking Staff)

  • Eligibility: 10th pass from a recognized board.
  • Purpose: Recruitment for Group C non-ministerial posts in central government offices.
  • Exam Pattern:
    • Tier 1: Objective MCQ
    • Tier 2: Descriptive (short essay/letter)

4. SSC JE (Junior Engineer)

  • Eligibility: Diploma/Degree in Engineering (Civil, Electrical, Mechanical).
